Introduction
We are celebrating the season ahead.
This moment, the time of commitment, is high and holy.
You are being asked to make a commitment today.
Big Gift Sunday - May 19th
Something is happening in our midst.
READ (DEUT. 6:1-25)
Moses offered a corporate charge to the people of Israel.
Moses would not enter the promised land, but he positioned the nation as well as he could.
“Shema” - “Listen, hear”
There is 1 God to listen to.
Love him with all that you have.
Teach this to every generation.

1. Love begins at home.

Moses addressed families. After this assembly, they would go back to their homes and prepare for the journey.
Parents were to teach by example and speech.
How to love, worship, and obey.
Set up places and areas to bring about these reminders.
Wrote down and placed in pouches.
The prosperity of Israel hinged on families who sought to love and honor the Lord.
Christians are free to discover the love of God. To fellowship with other believers, raise their children together, and seek his kingdom.
God is honored when families make a commitment to him.

2. Commitment is a daily decision.

This land was promised for ages.
They were given a land that they did not earn.
When enjoyment flooded their soul, they were not to forget God.
Live correctly
Remind children why we don’t forget.
Righteousness was available when they continued to walk with God.
When the bullied becomes the bully. (Forgot what is felt like.)
May we never forget a life without Jesus.
Develop our own ideas and label them as truth.
Lose sight of God’s commands.
Worship ourselves instead of God.
Become people of the world.
“But to deviate from the truth for the sake of some prospect of hope of our can never be wise, however slight that deviation may be. It is not our judgement of the situation which can shows what is wise, but only the truth of the Word of God. Here alone lies the promise of God’s faithfulness and help. It will always be true that the wisest course for the disciple is always to abide solely by the Word of God in all simplicity.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
There is a beautiful opportunitiy that awaits us, GBC.
But, it can only be done one way. God’s way.
We are ready to go on God’s great adventure for GBC. Now is the time to take the step of commitment together.
